Frangible Dreams
"Frangible Dreams" builds on the concept of Frangible Chromatophores, taking the experience out from behind the glass and into an immersive format for audiences. Our goal was to create 'art in a box'—a portable setup where we could arrive at a location, unpack, and activate the art.
For Arts-A-Glow in Burien, Washington, we brought this concept to life. The setup took 5 hours, the exhibition lasted 3 hours, and it took just under 2 hours to pack everything up. It was a lot of work for a short show, but absolutely worth it.
Visitors often ask what 'frangible' means. It refers to something that is easily broken. The cones featured in the piece are frangible rocket pod nose cones from a Lockheed F-94, which were the initial inspiration for the artwork. The project gave new life to materials that were otherwise destined for the landfill.
