Colorful Glass Magic
This installation was created for the 2022 Portland Winter Light Festival. The display, which was up for two weeks, was displayed in a front window on Belmont. Since the business operated from 9 to 5, the installation was designed to look appealing both during the day and from inside.
Around 120 glass raindrops made from various stained glass colors were hung from a simple metal frame with metal chain. A silver mylar backdrop added texture and depth, and the display wrapped around the side into the door nook. The base featured laser-cut designs with green plexiglass backing, and lights along the base created a watery effect. Pin spots from above made the reflections dance, bouncing off spinning disco balls and natural plants scattered throughout. The contrast between nature’s greenery and reflections, alongside the more rigid lines of silver and plexiglass, added a unique touch.
This collaboration was created with Misty’s father, Howard Post, who introduced her to stained glass and has collaborated on many other pieces together.
