Starry Glass Magic
For the 2023 Portland Winter Light Festival, this installation was a last-minute addition to the Mississippi-facing window of Sunlan Lighting. Misty envisioned a retro landscape, incorporating kaleidoscopes made from stained glass, mirrors, and PVC, set against a painted Tyvek background. Staying committed to reusing materials, the clouds were crafted from reusable silver cold pack bags and hung with fishing lines. New blue and green stained glass pyramids were added among the other elements. Stars were made from spray-painted zip ties and mason jar lids. Motion was introduced with disco ball motors and pin spots, creating a moving tableau along the back wall.
This installation beautifully complemented the Twilight Trees installation around the corner.
